“While most of the world was still asleep, these guys were already grinding—focused, coordinated, and giving it everything they had,” said Tony Maiato, General Superintendent at WCG.
Tuesday morning marked a major milestone in the construction of Fire Station 31 with the first large-scale pour of the 8‑inch‑thick concrete driveway designed to support emergency response vehicles serving the Fort Myers Beach community. Every phase was carefully planned to minimize traffic impacts and ensure precise placement across the entire surface.
Timeline of the Pour
3:30 a.m. – First concrete truck arrives
3:30–6:30 a.m. – 220 cubic yards of concrete placed by a 20+ person crew
6:30 a.m. – Final truck departs
3:30 p.m. – Control joints completed, closing out the day
“It was impressive to see the level of teamwork and dedication required to make this happen. Moments like these highlight the effort that goes into building from the ground up and the people behind the work,” Maiato added.
Wright extends sincere thanks to Southwest Construction for their exceptional workmanship on this critical pour and their continued contributions to the project.
